Catastrophic or Basic planA Health Insurance Plan with a High Deductible, and usually no Copays. The plan is not designed to cover the "every day medical expenses", but it is designed to protect the insured from a catastrophic loss, due to large claims. They commonly have Deductibles of $2,500, or $5,000, or more. The premium is lower for this type of plan.
